Every year since 2002, the Nuit Blanche delights young and old alike thanks to its arty itinerary held outdoor, where gigantic, unusual and magic works of art were created by confirmed artists or young talents. For this 2016 edition, the 15th, the Mareuil Hotel invites you wander in the capital, with your children, to discover the activities which are reserved for them.
At the Paris City hall
You are invited to follow a dark path on the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville, which will lead you up to an enchanted forest designed by the French artist Stéphane Thidet. With “Sleep”, he produces huge pieces of wood which rotate around a frozen lake, livened up by a perpetual movement. This disturbing sculpture seems to be bewitched, and evokes the imaginary world of tales, in particular the Grimm brothers’ “Snow White” universe.
At the Gare de Lyon
The French artist Alain Séchas seized the Gare de Lyon, with the help of his emblematic cats. These whiskered animals form a blended family on the platform, which seems to wait for the return of a loved one. They are equipped with placards and flower bouquets that they will offer to the imaginary protagonist. These felines were painted on a great mirror of the room with frescoes. To create this scene, the contemporary artist drew his inspiration from an 15th-century engraving, illustrating the triumph of Poliphili.
To continue this arty evening, we follow the tour which borders the Seine on the topic of the crossing, this year orchestrated by the president of the Palais de Tokyo, Jean de Loisy, until Issy-Les-Moulineaux.
